About

James Mustillo is a licensed architect based in Austin, Texas, specializing in low-impact and natural building methods.

He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Architecture from Miami University. He is a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC).

His interest in energy-efficient design began at Miami University, where he participated in the Solar Decathlon, leading his team to a first-place finish in 2019. This experience ultimately led him to Belfast, Maine, where he designed houses at GO Logic, a design-build company working to scale net-zero and low-carbon building. As the CPHC for the Fortin Residence, James helped secure both PHIUS certification and the Net-Zero Design Award in 2021.

While studying at UT Austin, James spent time in Boston and Stuttgart working for Behnisch Architekten and exploring both cities’ rich architectural histories.
